Through Chief Polzin’s visionary leadership and innovative approach to policing, crime was significantly reduced and neighborhoods were transformed. The record low crime rates we enjoy today were built on the early success of community policing initiatives introduced in 1992.
In 2010, the Racine Community Outpost acquired the commercial building located at 1900 16th St for use as a COP office. This facility was named in honor of Chief Polzin for his pioneering service and the introduction of the COP model locally.
Our community is safer, and the quality of life for all has been improved through the service and leadership of Chief Polzin.
The Richard V. Polzin COP Office also houses Wisconsin Department of Correction Probation and Parole Agents. An Orchestrating Good Resources sponsored food and hygiene products pantry is located here. The office is home to Safe Haven Girls Group, is a Salvation Army Healthy Kids meal site, and hosts Racine Neighborhood Watch monthly meetings.
