About

Basketball is a fast-paced, exciting game that builds teamwork, coordination, and fun competition. Whether you’re shooting hoops on your own, playing a quick pick-up game with friends, or joining an organized league, basketball is a sport for all ages and skill levels.

PRCS offers indoor and outdoor basketball courts throughout the city at several of our Parks and Community Centers—providing year-round opportunities to practice, play, and enjoy the game.

With accessible courts, simple rules, and fun mini-games, basketball is a great way to stay active, connect with friends, and enjoy the sport in Racine.

Basic Rules
  • Two teams try to score by shooting the ball through the opponent’s hoop.
  • Each basket is worth two points, or three points if made from behind the arc.
  • Teams move the ball by dribbling or passing.
  • Defense works to block shots, steal the ball, or grab rebounds.
  • The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Easy Games to Play
  • HORSE: Take turns shooting from different spots. Miss a shot and you get a letter. Spell “HORSE” and you’re out.
  • Knockout: Players line up; the first two shoot in order. Make your shot before the person behind you scores, or you’re out.
  • Around the World: Shoot from marked spots around the court. Make it all the way around to win.
  • 21: Each player tries to be the first to score 21 points, playing offense and defense against everyone else.
