Smart City Initiatives

Introduction

The goal of a Smart City is to use technology to make life better for people and help the economy grow. Smart City technology includes devices connected to the internet that use real‑time sensors, and tools that put citizens first—like app‑based parking meters and interactive maps. It also includes eco‑friendly infrastructure such as buildings that save energy and electric buses or scooters. Fast internet and access to connected devices ensure reliable communication, nurtures innovation, creates jobs, and attracts businesses.

The City of Racine provides free public internet access (also known as RACINE_PUBLIC_WIFI) at over 20 locations. The location of the Racine Public Library is also included because they provide free public access to computers. City of Racine Public Wi-Fi Map
